Capitalism: A Love StoryCAPITALISM A Love Story

Rodger Moore

DO SOMETHING!, April 15, 2010

CAPITALISM is another little gem of a masterpiece from the propaganda Left-leaning documentary film director Michael Moore. This time he aims directly at the financial Oligarchs who literally own & run the United States--and possess 99% of the wealth. He does this by targeting such nation defining events as the Second Great Crash of Wall Street, near collapse of the mortgage industry, the carefully orchestrated Bail Out of the very wealthy at the expense of the middle class, the class dominated response to hurricane Katrina, the reprehensible practice by corporate entities like Wal-Mart of taking health insurance policies on unwitting--referred to as "peasants" behind closed door--hoping they will kick the bucket so the company can cash-in on million $$$ death...& more.

[As you'll see below, the Wal-Mart material really got me riled & I did some personal investigation on my own to check it out--and sure enough, this really unethical--and should be criminal--practice has been well documented by experts in the field other than Moore.]

By the time the film got to the "peasant policy" section of the movie (the insurance policies section), I was so angry that my heart was actually pounding as if reacting to a major stimulant. It was the type of visceral reaction you just don't experience from most films today. This is why Moore's rather mild mannered on-screen persona, conceals the talent of an artistic lion.

I was bemused to glance over the most negative reviews here on Amazon. They read like name cards of the Tea Party, Obama-hating, Socialist-baiting reactionaries crawling out of the woodwork for that great big 15 minutes under the glare of the capitalist spotlight. One reviewer chides Moore for being a propagandist rather a documentary film director. I say three cheers for someone who has the passion to be an anti-capitalist documentary film director. I applaud Moore for having the guts to stand up for the "common people" in their struggle to survive in a country of vultures.

But reactionaries take heart; there is an irony of sorts at CAPITALISM'S conclusion. Instead of stating "The End" or even "Finis," Moore has "DO SOMETHING!" The irony, of course, is that no one knows exactly what to do & there are no leaders apparently able to...well, to lead us in what has to be done. The only thing most of us seem able to do is keep our heads above water & watch the parody of dark fairy tale "Tea Parties."
