You're gonna be sorry if you rent or buy
PARANORMAL ENTITY. It is so terrible that you want to believe it's some kind of
joke--and in a way it is, a joke on the unfortunate viewer. It's executed (and
I use that word with some wishful thinking) with the hand held camera gimmick,
resulting in looking at an empty table top for 5 minutes, a view with camera on
floor, or placed on a counter while the guy operating it (1 of 3 characters in
this travesty) makes a phone call, etc. And there is a real annoying girl
absolutely screeching her head off (more wishful thinking) throughout the film.
It's an insult and reminds me of a joke I heard. The guy telling the joke was a
one-time pitchman for a carnival. He stood in front of the tent where the
"geeks & freaks" were waiting to perform. He promised the crowd,
among other delights, that inside the tent was a man-eating chicken! Well, when
the crowd filed in and went to the stage that had a sign "Danger! Man
Eating Chicken!" Sure enough, there on the stage sat a man eating a
drumstick from a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket.
Get the picture? It's an allegory for PARA...ah, gee just forget it...I don't
want to waste another moment of the readers' or my time.
